8th Street Viaduct Bridge
8th Street Viaduct Bridge Project Description:
Numerous prestressed concrete girders of the bridge suffered damage from corrosion issues.  Specifically, several prestressing tendons in each damaged girder had deteriorated to the point where all structural integrity was lost in the tendons.

Solution:
The carbon-based Tyfo® SCH-41 Composite System was utilized to provide flexural strengthening to the bottom of nine separate girders where the prestressing tendons were lost due to corrosion.  Vertical straps of the Tyfo® SCH-41 Composite were also used to provide additional anchorage and durability to the system.  All installed composites were painted with the Tyfo® A acrylic finish to match the color and appearance of the existing bridge.
