Project Description: The steel deck of the floor system at the industrial facility showed signs of heavy corrosion. The steel deck was designed compositely with the concrete slab above and the structural integrity of the floor system was in question.
Solution: The fiberglass-based Tyfo® SEH-51 Composite System was utilized to provide the tensile strength of the floor system in lieu of the deteriorated steel deck. The deck was sand-blasted and cleaned thoroughly prior to the installation of the composite system. The composite was adhered to the steel deck with the Tyfo® S high-strength epoxy and additionally anchored with Hilti pins with enlarged washers. The Hilti pins also enabled the Tyfo® System to act compositely with the concrete slab above to create a strengthened, non-corrosive floor system.
