Project Description: During the construction phase of the new Cyclotron/Radiopharmacy, and new doorway was saw cut into the adjacent building to allow access into the Cyclotron building. The access door was cut into an existing shear wall which decreased the walls shear capacity. Due to the location of the new building under construction, there were limitations with regards to space.
Solution: Conventional construction methods for retrofit would require thickening of the wall and this was not an option. Due to the light weight, high strength properties of the Tyfo® Fibrwrap System this valued engineering alternate was the right choice for this rehabilitation.
Summary: Fibrwrap Installations provided a cost effective valued engineering solution for the consulting engineers and owners which exceeded all requirements set forth in the project specifications. Fibrwrap Installations installed the Tyfo® SCH-41-2X System to supplement the demand of 7.42k/ft in plane shear requirement. Fibrwrap Installations Ltd. was contacted during the holiday season and was still able to accommodate to the needs of their client. The crew required for this installation was on call and responded immediately to perform the requested task.
