Knight Street Bridge
Knight Street Bridge Project Description:
Translink has decided to complete a seismic upgrade on the Knight Street Bridge originally built in 1974. A bridge analysis completed by Associated Engineering found that approximately 42 pier caps required additional reinforcement to meet the current seismic codes set forth in British Columbia.

Solution:
Fibrwrap Installations Limited offered their services to provide a cost-effective solution to meet these requirements.

Fibrwrap Installations Limited installed the uni-directional Fyfe Company Tyfo® SCH-41 System to supplement the required confinement and shear enhancement set forth by consulting engineers Associated Engineering Ltd.

Summary:
Implementing new aged technology, the owner was provided an alternative to conventional construction which resulted in vast time savings, reduced remedial costs and no operational downtime.

Fibrwrap Installations Limited completed the Knight Street Bridge project in a cost-effective manner, ahead of schedule with the use of superior Fiber Reinforced Polymers currently available in the market.
