Project Description: 16 glulam beams at the Mackey Elementary School in Nevada were deemed structurally deficient and needed to be brought back to original design capacity.
Conventional methods of repair or replacement of the beams were not ideal due to the disruption to school operations that it would present; therefore, repair using advanced composites proved to be the best solution.
Solution: Fibrwrap® Construction utilized a combination of the Tyfo® BC System and the Tyfo® SEH-51A System both in the longitudinal and transverse directions to restore the beams back to their original flexural moment and shear capacity.
Summary: Fibrwrap® Construction performed the retrofit ahead of schedule without and major disruption to school operations.
