Project Description: A parking structure on the campus was experiencing corrosion issues on the bottom of precast concrete hollow-core planks. The prestressing strands were exposed and showing signs of corrosion.
Solution: The hollow-core planks were reinforced with the carbon-based Tyfo® SCH-41 Composite System. The SCH-41 Composite System provided flexural strength to the structure that may have been loss due to the corroded prestressing strands. The Tyfo® Advanced Fire Protection System was applied over the installation to provide a required UL 2-hour fire rating.
