Due to slab penetrations to account for machinery and added equipment, several slab locations at the diver locker in Sea World San Diego required positive moment strengthening around the underside of the newly cut openings.
Solution:
Fibrwrap® Construction was contracted to perform the required retrofit. Challenges arose as there were unforeseen obstacles such as pipe conduits at the locations interfering with the wrap.
Due to the versatility of the Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems and with the help of Fyfe Co. engineers and Flores Lund Consultants, they were able to develop a solution for the fiber to work around the obstacles without compromising the required strengthening.
